The short answer: if your company only operates in the UAE, your realistic alternatives are a corporate card from your bank, a digital business bank, or another UAE spend management platform. If you also run a US entity, Brex and Ramp become options. If you have a UK or EU entity, Ramp does too.
If you're searching for Alaan alternatives, you're probably in one of two places. Either you're shortlisting spend management tools for a UAE business, or you already use Alaan and something is bugging you.

Already an Alaan customer?
If you're here because something isn't working, tell us before you start migrating cards. Your account manager or our support team at support@alaan.com or on WhatsApp can usually sort these the same day:
- A card declined and you don't know why.
- You need a higher limit for a one-off purchase.
- Transactions aren't matching up in your accounting software.
- You're adding a new entity or team and the setup feels messy.
If we can't fix it, you'll at least leave knowing the gap was real and not a settings problem.
What Alaan doesn't do
If you need any of these, cross us off now and save yourself a demo.
- Credit. Alaan cards are prepaid, so you top up first and spend after. If you need a credit line, that's still your bank.
- Loans or working capital financing.
- Payroll. Salaries and WPS run elsewhere.
- Companies outside the UAE. We only serve businesses with legal entities in those two countries.
Bank corporate cards vs Alaan
For most UAE companies, the real comparison is between Alaan and the bank they already use. Banks win on the relationship you've built with them and on access to credit. Where they tend to fall behind is everything that happens after someone taps the card.
Bank corporate card options in the UAE
If credit or an existing banking relationship is what keeps you with a bank, these are the business cards UAE companies most often compare. Fees and benefits change often, so check the bank's own page before you apply.

Ramp and Brex: who they actually work for
Ramp and Brex come up in every "best spend management" list, and both are good products. The catch is eligibility.
Brex only accepts companies registered in the United States. You need a US incorporation, a US EIN, a US address, and US operations (Brex). Brex is also now owned by Capital One, which completed the acquisition in April 2026 [link to Capital One's announcement].
Ramp launched in Canada in July 2026 (Finovate), and UK and EU businesses can now sign up without a US entity (Crypto Briefing). It doesn't offer accounts to UAE-registered companies.
So they're worth a look if your group has a US parent, or a UK or European entity doing real spending there. If your team and your trade licence are both in the UAE, they aren't an option yet.
Questions to ask any UAE spend platform
There are a few newer UAE spend management platforms besides us, and the demos tend to look alike. These questions separate them faster than a feature list will, and you should ask us too.
- Who issues the cards, and who holds the licence? Ask for the name of the issuing partner and the regulator.
- Is it a credit card or prepaid? This changes your cash flow more than any feature does.
- What does a transaction in another currency actually cost? Get the FX markup as a number.
- Which accounting tools sync both ways, and how is VAT handled on each transaction?
- When a card declines at 11pm before a client dinner, who picks up, and how quickly?
- How long is the contract, and what does leaving involve?
When Alaan isn't the right fit
We'd rather you hear this from us than find out three months in. Alaan probably isn't for you if:
- You have fewer than five employees. We say this on our own business account page too: we're not the right fit just yet.
- A large credit line is the main thing you're shopping for.
When it is
Alaan tends to make sense once you have more cardholders than your finance team can keep track of, and month-end turns into a hunt for receipts. If someone in finance is still messaging people for invoices from three weeks ago, that's usually the sign.
Al Barari, for example, cut reimbursements and saved 200 hours a month while keeping spend separate across its entities.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Alaan alongside my bank?
Yes. Plenty of teams keep their bank for credit and run team cards, approvals, and receipts on Alaan. If you'd rather consolidate, Alaan also offers a business account with its own IBAN, issued by Ruya Community Islamic Bank.
Can a UAE company use Brex or Ramp?
Only through a US entity for Brex, or a US, Canadian, UK, or EU entity for Ramp. A UAE-only company can't open an account with either right now.
How long does switching to Alaan take?
We put switching at less than a day. Virtual cards work straight away, and physical cards arrive within about five business days.
Where to go from here
If you're comparing options, take the six questions above into every demo, including ours. If you're already a customer and something's off, message your account manager first. It's quicker than a migration.
