Zoho Books is the most popular choice for small businesses in the UAE. It holds 38.7% of active accounting connections on Alaan. QuickBooks and Xero come next. Between them, the three tools hold 79% of all small business connections, so for most small teams the decision comes down to these three.
Across the UAE, Zoho Books is the most widely used accounting software, with 38.7% of active accounting connections on Alaan. QuickBooks (16.9%) and Xero (16.1%) follow. Larger companies tend to look elsewhere: Odoo, NetSuite, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 show up more often as headcount grows.
Most UAE small businesses use one of three tools: Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or Xero. Zoho Books leads and is also growing fastest of the three, at 5.4% a month against 4.4% for QuickBooks and 1.3% for Xero. All three keep customers connected at similar rates, with disconnection rates between 28% and 30%. Any of them is a safe pick, and the choice usually comes down to price and which one your accountant already knows.
Zoho Books is the most adopted cloud accounting tool among UAE small businesses on Alaan, followed by QuickBooks and Xero. All three are cloud-based, which is part of why they dominate the SME market: there’s no server to maintain and no IT team needed to keep the sync running. Together they hold 71.7% of all active accounting connections.
Large businesses in the UAE mostly don’t use small business software. About 4 in 10 enterprises on Alaan connect a custom ERP through Alaan’s API, followed by Odoo and Microsoft Dynamics 365. Zoho Books and Xero barely register at this size. Heavier systems do come with a cost: NetSuite, Dynamics 365, and Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations have disconnection rates between 54% and 63%, because more custom fields and approval layers give a sync more to trip over.
For day-to-day bookkeeping, UAE small businesses mostly use Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or Xero. Zoho Books is the most common, with 38.7% of active connections on Alaan. If you only need to track expenses, reconcile bank feeds, and hand clean books to an accountant at month-end, any of the three will do the job without needing an ERP.
Start with one team
You don't have to move the whole company at once. Pick one team, load a sub-wallet, issue a few cards, and see what a month of spend looks like when every transaction arrives already coded.
